Most Admired International Player

Keith Wood. 100% commitment, all round abilty.

Most Admired Witney Player
Tough one this, as there are many. Andy Gosling (don't say I said this) Mark Godfrey (ditto), John Bennett (brilliant cheat, but never maliciously hurt anybody!) & finally JC. JC has to take it. Alway's gives 100%, (anyone remember pre-cup match training when JC had Pneumonia?) Leads by example, one of the best destroyers I ever had the priviledge to play with (& I note Carl has the same tackling style) but loved to pick it up & get the play moving again. But most of all, he only ever knocks himself, he looks to raise those around him & he did wonders for my game, for my Tug - of - war (did I really do that?) & all the laughs on & off the pitch.

Most Embarrassing moment on the Pitch 1st XV (I think) at Bicester around 91. Tight game, we are just ahead, then some lumbering lock, decides to clear a loose ball 45 yards up the touch line rather than tap it 15 yards & make sure. Yes I missed, straight down full backs throat, few passes & try under the post. Bicester in the lead & the game is theirs. Two others, both whilst in Bradford. One involved tackling the ref. an old & frail man, who didn't get up! The second involved tackling (yes two tackles) a member of the crowd in the thick fog. In my defence She was wearing an opposition shirt!!
Most Embarrasing moment off the Pitch

saying the things above about JC!

Best Match for Witney

As second XV skipper taking a good side to & beating Swindon. Good all round team performance!! A game we lost, but the feeling was awesome. V's Oxford Greyhounds about 92. A fantastic forward performance, but their back were just better still.

Worst Match for Witney

Didcot 1989 I think. End of season game & we were just crap. I recall being at the bottom of a ruck with Chris Williams, somewhere near the end, & all he kept saying was, Millsy this is shite, millsy this is shite...sad thing was he was right! Think we got relegated.

How to improve training Have to speak for Hitchin now. It's pretty good & I guess things have developed in all clubs over the last 15 years or so. No running to the posts & back....thank god! No Prima donnas. Nothing demotivates the young lads more than the few who pick & choose the drills they do and those they don't and spend them talking tactics with coach or the injured guy on the touch line & then bunk off early without putting kit away. Selfish bastards!
Remaining Rugby Ambitions Play in a Witney shirt again. Pack it in before I'm really crap....
