Welcome to the Witney Cherubs, U18 and U15 teams!
We ended last season with both Under 18's and Under 15's taking part in the National 7's and both getting to the final, we as a team, really want to go to the next level! Training will be centre around games for understanding, meaning everyone will be involved and will have the chance to become part of the team ready for the new season ahead.
The Oxfordshire Thames Valley Cluster team is made up of girls from Witney, Grove, Chinor and Oxford and this is the third season Witney girls have been involved.
The Cherubs also have girls who represent the County and played in last years National Tournament in Essex where the team did very well considering it was their first invite. We also have one representative at Regional Level.
Our aim is to always keep the team growing and improving, we are one of a few teams in the County to have ever increasing numbers of players signing up to play, and we want to keep this trend though out next season! All girls are welcome! with and without any prior experience! we have had 4 new players join in the last 2 weeks! Great time for beginners
If you ever fancied giving rugby a go, why not come to the club to one of our training sessions? You can train with us and learn the basics or you can just watch and meet the coach and the players to see if it is something you want to get involved with...
Please come along on Wednesday nights,
Starts around 7.00 at the Club.
Well done to all our new Cherubs, Hope to see you all soon! I need your contact numbers

Thames Valey U15 and U18 regional Programme 2010
Regional Trial Set-up
Well Done to the following for being nominated for Regional Trials
U18's
Micky Harris
Steph Harris
Ellie Lewis
Helen Francais
U15's
Zsoph
Lizzie Peach
Lucy Marr
Please remember:
- The trial this year is taking place at Burnham Grammar School, Hogfair Lane, Burnham, Slough, SL1 7HG, NOT Slough RFC where it has been for the past few years.
- The trial will start at 1:00 pm sharp so please aim to arrive by 12:00 so that you can register and hand over parental consent forms and photos and be ready to warm-up in good time. If possible can you let me know at registration your availability, if selected, for the next three weeks of regional training and the first match. (See dates of full programme below.)
- Please make sure you have taken on board appropriate food and drink before the trial starts and please bring your own water bottles for use during the session.
- One reason for the trial taking place at the school is that there is an all-weather 3G surface pitch so we are hopeful that we will be able to go ahead in spite of the current weather. Given the nature of the surface you are strongly recommended to wear kit which covers arms and legs fully to minimise burns. And of course please wear plenty of layers and waterproof clothing. Normal boots are ok on this surface and it is possible that we may use the grass pitch as well for part of the trial.
- For parents and spectators please note that unfortunately food and drink will not be on sale at the school – though there is apparently a Tesco nearby, so bring supplies and a flask if you can.
Trial split into:
Warm Up (Grid, Dynamic Stretches and start to observe handling skills) Skill Stations (Contact, Running and Decision Making) Position Specific (Half Back/Back 3, Centres/Back Row and Front 5) Conditioned Game (Chris to referee conditioned game. We will be on grass pitch so can play a full sized game split into 3 x 20 min games.
NB: Please Note Handling will be Assessed thoughout the session!
