Welcome back to a new season. After a baking long hot summer which saw record temperatures, England rolling back the years with a World Cup to remember and our local MP being made president it was business as usual with wet damp conditions, Cliff being more organised than a military parade and Big Si winging the training routine.....
We welcomed three new players-Fraser who had not played before but seemed to take to it, and Edward A and Josh coming on a Bosman from Faringdon. It means that competition for places will be keener than ever. With that in mind when we come to picking teams then training attendance will be one of the key factors. This year the sessions will be split in broadly 3 sections. Training will start with warm up and fitness at 10 sharp. Please try to get there on time-if not please let me know. Again if you can not make the following week also let me know. The second part of the session will be skills followed by a game of a minimum of 30 minutes. With 27 attending today and 4 apologies most weeks will be good worthwhile competitive matches.
This week we just looked to get the boys playing again. The summer break certainly had refreshed a few players. Charlie W for one had found another gear in pace and an improved pass, while Edward W must have had 3 shredded wheat today with again improved pace and direct running.
We are training until the Grove tournament on October 3rd. I know it is early but again let me know if you can not attend. Would any new parents-or those with new contact details please email me the new info. Cliff is away for the next few weeks so Rob will be taking any tour deposits. I will let you know in the next couple of weeks who will get shirts. Until next week - enjoy your first week at senior school.

Club shirts will be provided to 27 players. The shirts will remain the property of the age group and must be returned if your child leaves the club. They will be allocated on the following basis
If your child does not fall into this category then you must buy a shirt from the shop in time for the first match. I hate to sound dictatorial but my decision is final on allocation!
Please remember to register on one of the first three Sunday's. Leslie and Cliff are not around on Sunday 5th so please register in the clubhouse. This year we are on the first pitch through the gate.
Any prospective parents please call me on 01993 878352 or 07711 729313 to find out more about the best sporting club for year 7's (11 year olds) in Witney.
